It’s officially February 27, 2026, which means today is a celebration of all things Pokémon! It’s been 30 years since the release of the first-gen Pokémon Red and Blue games that began the entire franchise and became a global phenomenon. Amongst the new game releases, an official pinball machine, and more – LEGO is stirring up quite the buzz as the first of its three new Pokémon sets are hitting shelves, complete with two GWP sets, too. You can get a rundown on these three sets that fans have eagerly been waiting for below.
Catch popular gen 1 Pokémon in brick-built format
Way back in March, 2025, LEGO released a very electrifying teaser of its planned collaboration with Pokémon through the form of a short glimpse of Pikachu’s tail with some sparks, which culminated in the first official looks of three sets back in January 2026. Since that announcement, builders and trainers alike have been abuzz with excitement, and now, on Pokémon Day, these new sets have finally stepped out of the tall grass and made themselves available to capture – giving you some of the most popular gen 1 pocket monsters: Eevee, Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise.

What are the LEGO GWP sets during this release?
The first of the two GWP sets during this event is the 40892 Kanto Region Badge Collection that will accompany purchases of the 72153 Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set from February 27 to March 8, 2026 – but you’ll have to act fast, as stock is limited and will no doubt be running out long before the day is over.

The next of these GWP sets is the 40911 Mini Pokémon Center that comes as a redeemable Insiders Reward for only 2,600 Insiders points starting today. While there hasn’t been any hint at this being a limited redemption GWP, that doesn’t mean it’s not likely to run out of stock, just like the above set, so if you’ve got the points, I’d jump to secure yours ASAP.

LEGO’s three Pokémon sets are now available to catch!
With these new releases, you’ll be able to bring home five of some of the most popular first-gen Pokémon, starting with the most affordable 72151 Eevee set at $59.99 shipped. This is probably my personal favorite, as I have always been obsessed with collecting and trading as many Eevees in-game as I could get in order to have an array of the various evolutions. Here’s hoping we will be getting those evolutions with future releases!
The next set on this list is the pricier 72152 Pikachu and Poké Ball set at $199.99 shipped, giving you a very dynamic piece of everyone’s favorite mouse shooting out of its Poké Ball alongside brick-built electricity. Of course, you can remove Pikachu from the base plate and position it however you wish, especially with the adorable face looking upward on a coffee table, for example.
Lastly, the most display-worthy set is the massive and intricate 72153 Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise set that brings along a very large tag for $649.99 shipped. Even with the price tag being a bit scary, I can’t see this set lasting in stock for very long, especially considering the 40892 Kanto Region Badge Collection that accompanies it.
