James Bond’s next outing on home consoles is quickly approaching if you have a PS5 or Xbox anyway – the Switch 2 version has been delayed until later this summer. We are, however, getting our first look at the new 007 First Light Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller.
IO Interactive is seemingly going to need a little bit more time to cook the Switch 2 version of the upcoming 007 First Light, as that version has been delayed later until later this summer. Everything still appears to be on schedule for PS5, Xbox, and the PC versions though with IO holding strong on the May 27 release date – it was initially supposed to launch in March, but it seems like the early summer date is going to stick on most platforms at this point.
Alongside the release date news, Sony has now taken to the official PlayStation Blog to officially reveal the new 007 First Light Limited Edition DualSense Wireless Controller.
We are getting our first look at the new golden gamepad today, complete with a “golden sheen and radiant barrel design, the controller frames James Bond’s iconic codename and weapon on the DualSense wireless controller touchpad.”

Here’s what the game’s art director had to say about the golden design, which is clearly a nod to the series’ golden gun:
With this 007 First Light controller, we saw an opportunity to welcome James Bond back to gaming after more than 13 years in a way that felt instantly iconic. The golden finish pays tribute to the elegance, legacy, and timeless style of the franchise, while the barrel-inspired detailing reflects the themes of the game and how it feels to play it, as well as being a nod to one of pop culture’s most recognizable visual signatures. Every element of the DualSense design was crafted as a celebration of Bond’s return, blending legacy and modernity to create a controller that feels unmistakably 007 from the moment you see it.
The new DualSense wireless controller – 007 First Light Limited Edition will be available in limited quantities across the glove for $84.99 and pre-order are set to begin on April 17 at 10 am local time at direct.playstation.com (where available), as well as participating retailers.
