Xbox officially announces upcoming first-look world-premiere showcase for Metro 2039

Just after inking the date and time for its giant annual summer Games Showcase, Xbox Wire has just confirmed we will be getting our first good look at the new Metro 2039 this week.

This Thursday, Xbox will be airing a digital only broadcast dedicated to the upcoming Metro 2039. The dedicated showcase will deliver a “world-premiere look at the next title in the beloved post-apocalyptic first-person shooter series.” There are no specific details on what to expect from the show otherwise, but chances are we will be seeing a gameplay demo of some kind alongside more details on the setting and story.

Metro 2039 is the fourth mainline entry in the series, for those unfamiliar. In development at 4A Games, the series is based on the Dmitry Glukhovsky novels and lands as a follow up to Metro Exodus, Metro: Last Light, and 2010’s Metro 2033 – “all of which tell the stories of survivors of nuclear devastation living in the Moscow subway tunnels and the world that surrounds them.”

This week’s Xbox First Look: Metro 2039 broadcast will go live on 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 16. We will be watching along with you in a few day’s time and will update this post when the YouTube stream is made available (it should appear right here soon).
