New life-size iOS/Android-controlled Grogu hovering pram Droid debuts ahead of May the 4th

Last year, head of Star Wars Day, Piaggio Fast Forward introduced the world to its real-life, G1T4-M1N1 Star Wars helper droid bot, and today it is announcing a new special edition version to bring you your very own Grogu hovering pram.

The new Grogu gitamini Droid is largely based on the soon to be retired G1T4-M1N1 model PFF debuted last year. It is described as a “Star Wars-inspired robot brings to life the iconic design of Grogu’s hovering pram through PFF’s signature, cutting-edge technology, resulting in an out of this world collaboration that is sure to delight fans of all ages.”

The Grogu gitamini is a cargo-carrying, following robot inspired by Grogu’s pram in The Mandalorian. This robot is equipped with cameras and sensors that allow it to identify its leader and follow them with ease. The Grogu gitamini has enough space to carry up to 20 lb of your gear on all of your daily journeys.

The Gita technology at play here allows the pram-style bot to autonomously follow behind you “with the simple push of a button, no training required.” It comes equipped with a bevy of what the brand calls “industry-leading cameras and sensors,” as well as proprietary “pedestrian etiquette” technology, which allows the Grogu gitamini to follow your every move in with “smooth, polite movement and comfortable following distances around obstacles and people.”

The whole thing is about as gimmicky as it is epic if you ask me. I might even want one if it didn’t carry a $2,875 list at the official Disney Store. It is, after all, a real-life smart following droid though.

The whole thing connects to its leader via the companion iOS and Android apps, as I’m sure you imagined, and here’s the main feature set at a glance:

  • Includes Grogu gitamini following robot, charger (block and cable), lens cleaning kit, quickstart guide, user manual, registration card, and release of liability*
  • Equipped with cameras and sensors that allow it to identify its operator and follow them
  • Holds up to 20 lbs
  • Runtime of seven hours
  • Operating temperature: 10-110° F
  • Lifting handles front and back (single person lift)
  • Built-in Bluetooth speaker
  • USB charging port
  • The mygita app is used for registration, advanced functionality, and software updates. It is available for iOS and Android smartphones in the Apple App Store or Google Play
