FREE FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH demo now live on Switch 2 and Xbox ahead of summer release

Earlier this year Square Enix released the first entry of its epic FINAL FANTASY VII remake on Nintendo Switch 2 (currently on sale down at $30 on Amazon). Fast forward to today, and it has now issued the official FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Demo Trailer – you can try out the next entry in the saga on both platforms.

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is the next part of the epic remake, spanning the adventure outside of the walls of Midgar and it will soon release on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC as part of Xbox Play Anywhere come June 3, 2026.

After escaping the dystopian city of Midgar, join Cloud and his friends on an epic journey across the planet in pursuit of Sephiroth. Ride chocobos, sprint across sweeping plains, and explore a vibrant, expansive world. Experience new features and encounters as the story unfolds, culminating in the party’s journey to the Forgotten Capital from the original FINAL FANTASY VII.

But before that, Square Enix has released a demo on all of the above platforms so gamers can give it go ahead of launch this summer – “save data transfer to the full game” included. The demo is now live on the eShop and on Xbox.

Pre-orders for the complete launch are now live with digital bonuses available too – physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition will also get 1x Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY “Zack Fair” card, featuring a variant art by Tetsuya Nomura.

There’s loads of Final Fantasy classics on sale this week too:
