Keep tabs on your vehicle’s tires with these Bluetooth sensors

Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) are not exactly a new thing in the automotive world. They have long been a part of modern cars, constantly monitoring whether or not you have enough air in the tires. James Lim of FOBO Tire and his group of developers are combining the latest in wireless technology with a simple piece of equipment that will fit on nearly any car in the world.

The FOBO Tire is the “world’s first all bluetooth smart TPMS”, utilizing the latest Bluetooth 4.0 technology to communicate vital information directly to your iOS and Android device. This device simply attaches to your vehicle’s existing pressure valve, instantly giving your car a Bluetooth attached monitoring system. Additionally, an in-car unit that is run by AA batteries connects to the four valves and provides feedback and alerts to the owner about their vehicle. Batteries are stated to last up to two years based on normal operating temperatures and are user replaceable.

Obviously, one of the big features is the ability to track the air pressure in your tire from anywhere, but there are a few other things the FOBO is capable of. It includes a theft deterrent alert system so you know if something has gone amiss with your system, you can monitor up to 20 cars at once making this a nice option for families with multiple vehicles. The FOBO Tire is surprisingly attractive, with a nice finish on the outside available in two colors. It certainly is more visually appealing than your other options for checking air pressure.

The automotive market is beginning to see more smart devices as technology continues to develop. The Automatic Smart Driving Assistant has received a lot of press for its ability to monitor your driving habits and provide feedback to help save on fuel. Additionally, it is capable of recording your route data and accumulating information over time or during trips. It simply plugs into your existing data port within your dashboard and links via Bluetooth to your iOS or Android device. If the Automatic doesn’t suit your needs, perhaps a simpler diagnostic scanner will, Amazon is offering the Actron AutoScanner series as a part of its Gold Box today. Starting at $47.99 you’ll be able to check your vehicle for specific error codes and find out exactly what the problem is before you go to the mechanic. It is a simple investment that can help save money in the long-term.

The FOBO Tire currently has 35 days left on Indiegogo and has already reached 273% of its fundraising goal. While the initial early special deal is sold out, you can still have a set by the holiday season for $90, there are additional options if you are hoping to buy more than one for your family or business.
