The Beats Solo have a few things going for them, not the least of which is the ultra-compact charging case and especially so in the sweet Transparent Red treatment. But we were also more than impressed with the battery life here – there might not be a battery in the case for an extra charge on-the-go, but at $50 the onboard 18-hours of operation the buds themselves provide is quite impressive. And this isn’t some marketing trick, our testing confirms they actually provide the 18 hours of use – there’s also the usual 5-minute quick charge using a USB-C cable that nets you an extra hour of listening.
