Microsoft has taken to the official Xbox Wire to announce that Gears of War: Reloaded is landing on Xbox, Steam and PlayStation 5 this summer. Reloaded, as the name suggests is a complete remaster of the original Gears game from nearly 20 year ago now, and Xbox is ready to launch it across all platforms (other than Switch 1/2) as well as Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.
Gears of War: Reloaded launches on Xbox and PlayStation 5
In today’s official announcement from Xbox, it has announced that Gears of War: Reloaded will land on August 26, 2025 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 5, and Steam. It will cost $39.99.
However, this is, as I’m sure you expected, also a day 1 Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass release with “cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms.”
There’s some good upgrade news here as well – fans who own the “digital version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition receive a free upgrade to Gears of War: Reloaded.”
Xbox describes Gears of War: Reloaded as “a celebration of one of gaming’s most iconic franchises.” It will launch with “4K resolution, 120 FPS support, and the ultimate multiplayer experience with cross-progression and cross-play, across all platforms.”

The remaster is launching just shy of the 20th anniversary of Gears of War that originally debuted in 2006.
Originally released in 2006, Gears of War: Reloaded brings the full experience forward once again — enhanced for the latest hardware across multiple platforms, introducing the Gears of War franchise to a new generation of players.
Reloaded includes the “full breadth of content from the Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, delivering the most complete version of the original game to date,” including access to all post-launch DLC for FREE — “this includes the bonus Campaign act, all multiplayer maps and modes, and a full roster of classic characters and cosmetics unlockable through progression.”
