LG’s ridiculously fast 1,000Hz UltraGear gaming monitor is now officially up for pre-order, and you can snag one for your battlestation for $999.99 shipped, with LG currently listing expedited shipping from September 1. The main highlight here is obviously that refresh rate. LG says this is the world’s first Full HD gaming monitor with a native 1,000Hz refresh rate, meaning it can hit that speed at its full 1920 x 1080 resolution rather than relying on a lower-resolution dual mode as we see on plenty of models these days. The 24.5-inch IPS panel on this UltraGear model can be pushed even further to 1,100Hz with overclocking, making this one of the fastest gaming displays we’ve seen out there. This is very clearly built for esports and competitive shooters rather than folks chasing 4K visuals. LG specifically went with the smaller 24.5-inch size that’s common in competitive setups, where keeping the entire screen within your field of view is often more useful than having a massive panel. You also get MBR Pro motion-blur reduction here alongside NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility, AMD FreeSync Premium, HDR support, and a fully adjustable stand.
There is a pretty big hardware requirement attached to that 1,000Hz claim, though. LG says you’ll need Windows 11, DisplayPort 2.1, and one of the newer RTX 50-series GPUs or select AMD Radeon RX 9000- and 7900-series models to actually hit the monitor’s maximum refresh rate. The 1,100Hz overclock also comes with some Adaptive-Sync limitations, so keep that in mind. The connectivity options on this monitor include DisplayPort 2.1, dual HDMI ports, and a headphone jack, and LG is also including its AI Sound feature for emphasizing things like footsteps and other in-game audio cues.
All things considered, this UltraGear model is a pretty feature-packed display, and it’s a particularly solid display for competitive gamers who are looking to get their hands on what is arguably the fastest gaming monitor out there.
