It’s that time of year and the biggest games fest on the calendar is set to get underway today with gamescom Opening Night Live. Geoff Keighley is ready to take the stage today to kick off a week’s worth of exclusive new trailers and gameplay from some of the biggest upcoming releases, and the prime time showcase starts at 1:30 p.m. ET.
gamescom 2026: Opening Night Live
gamescom takes place from August 25 through to August 30 in Cologne, Germany, and the main event goes live today. There will be a 30-minute pre-show starting at 10:30 a.m. PT/1:30 p.m. ET with the 2-hour main show starting shortly thereafter.
This thing is usually filled with fresh looks at highly-anticipated titles and some all-new world premieres, and we are expecting much of the same this year.
While there have been some exciting teasers and we do know a few of the things we will be seeing during today’s prime time event, the rest is largely shrouded in mystery.
One highlight we do already know about is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past – we will indeed be getting our very first look at the upcoming third expansion for The Witcher 3. At this point, The Witcher 4 is eyeing a 2028 release window, but CD Projekt Red will be launching an all-new expansion for The Witcher 3 to tide us over in the meantime – Songs of the Past is said to directly tie into the upcoming new game.
We will also be getting another closer look the final part of the FF7 remake trilogy as Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is confirmed to be making an appearance today. From there you can expect some story details from Gears of War: E-Day and a gameplay reveal for Game of Thrones: War for Westeros.
