Today, Logitech has announced that it is bringing Amazon’s Alexa Voice Service to its ZeroTouch AirVent Accessory and Dashboard Software for Android. It’s been a big year for the virtual assistant as it has made its way to a number of new products at CES in January. Now, it’s entering our cars as Amazon continues to battle for supremacy against Apple and Google.

Logitech launched its ZeroTouch mount and software with the goal of helping drivers stay focused on the road. Now, Alexa will bring increased functionality including the ability to pull up information, news, weather and more from your car. It will also allow users to control smart home gear on the road, as well. The updated ZeroTouch app is available for free in the Google Play Store with access to Alexa.

The Logitech ZeroTouch already allows you to use the power of your voice to place calls, text back and forth, and engage with apps, such as Yelp – while keeping your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Now, with this collaboration, you can quickly access the weather and news or your favorite Alexa skills that are enabled on your Alexa account. You can also ask Alexa to control smart home devices – right from the driver’s seat, before you even get home – such as your thermostat, smart lights or smart lock. So, imagine telling Alexa to close the garage after you’ve left for work for the day. Or, telling her to change the thermostat on your way home from work.
