The LEGO Group today has a neat new promotional set out today that Disney fans in particular are going to love. The new Mini Steamboat Willie kit delivers a black and white rendition of the animation that started it all, and continues to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Disney studios. A new batch of LEGO Gift with Purchase creations are hitting the official LEGO Shop today. Most notably, there’s the new Mini Steamboat Willie set that looks to be one of the final ways the company is collaborating with Disney to celebrate 100 years of animation. The build stacks up as set number 40659 and stacks up to 424 pieces.
It’s one of the larger promotional kits we’ve seen, feeling more like its own standalone set instead of a freebie meant to help sell other models. The kit also comes complete with an updated minifigure version of Steamboat Willie himself.
This isn’t the first time that LEGO fans have been able to bring a brick-built version of the Steamboat Willie animation to their collections, as 2019 saw a larger version of the design announced apart of the LEGO Ideas lineup. Now all these years later, there’s a more scaled-down take on the same source material.
The new LEGO Mini Steamboat Willie set is now available in orders over $100. There is the caveat that you’ll need to hit that amount only on sets from the Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel Super Heroes themes. So whether you’ve been eyeing up one of the new fall wave Star Wars builds or have another kit from a Disney franchise on the list, there’s a bit more flexibility here than previous GWP offers that limited it to Disney animation releases.
Back in September, we also previously shared news about another Gift with Purchase from LEGO. The new Houses of the World 4 kit is finally here to join the Mini Steamboat Willie creation. The latest miniature home is available in orders over $250, so you’ll need to add a bit more to your cart in order to score this model.
It does luckily stack with the Disney promotional set, too. So you’ll be bringing home the LEGO Mini Steamboat Willie GWP as well as the Houses of the World 4 set – as long as $100 worth of that $250 threshold is spent on kits from Disney properties.
