Official Nintendo FCC report might have just confirmed the Switch 2 Pro Controller

While it likely won’t be long now until we find out for sure, some believe that a newly surfaced Nintendo FCC filing is confirming the existence of the new Switch 2 Pro Controller – or some sort of new gamepad anyway.

Nintendo FCC report – Switch 2 Pro Controller?

As part of our Countdown to the Nintendo Switch 2 series, we gathered up all of the rumors, leaks, hints, and even our own speculation on a next-generation Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller. The original model is a mostly beloved one, outside of the stick drift some sweet new Hall effect sensors will likely correct, and it seems an obvious move for Nintendo to unleash a brand new model alongside the Switch 2 – the original Switch Pro Controller was unveiled and released at the same time as Switch 1.

A different Nintendo FCC report made headlines back in early March for a few reasons. Firstly, it seemingly confirmed Wi-Fi 6 support as well as NFC/RFID tech for amiibo and dual USB-C port charging on Switch 2, but it also shed some light on what appeared to be the official Switch model number pre-fix.

The previous Nintendo FCC report designated “Game console” – likely Switch 2 – with model number BEE-001, and the Joy-Con with model numbers BEE-012 and BEE-014. These numbers, especially the 001 designation on the console, fall in line with we saw on the original Switch console.

Fast forward to today and the newly surfaced FCC report (via GameRant) specifically mentions it is for a “Game controller” of some sort with a product code reading BEE008. Beyond that, there isn’t much to go on, but this is an official Nintendo FCC report with a Final Action date of March 31, 2025 that specifically mentions a game controller using the same model number scheme as what many believe to be the Switch 2 console and its Joy-Con – this might very well be the Switch 2 Pro Controller we all more less assume and, frankly, hope will be announced tomorrow (or shortly thereafter).

Again, it won’t be long now as there are less than 124 hours left before Nintendo takes the virtual stage for its long-awaited and highly-anticipated Switch Direct.
