Now just 24 hours away from go time, we now know what time Switch 2 pre-orders will go live at Best Buy. Up until now, only Target, Walmart, and GameStop had officially confirmed exactly what time pre-orders would begin for Switch 2 on April 24 this week, leaving Best Buy as the last major hold out to confirm the go time.
Best Buy officially confirms Switch 2 pre-order start time
Pre-order Nintendo Switch 2 at Best Buy (12 a.m ET)
Pre-order Nintendo Switch 2 at Target (12 a.m ET)
Pre-order Nintendo Switch 2 at Walmart (12 a.m ET)
Pre-order Nintendo Switch 2 at GameStop (11 a.m ET)
Pre-order Nintendo Switch 2 at Amazon (TBD)
Best Buy has now officially confirmed that it too will begin taking Switch 2 pre-orders at the same time as Target and Walmart.
Both Target and Walmart announced that they would begin the Switch pre-order process at midnight on April 24 last week, but Best Buy has now updated its official Switch 2 landing page to confirm that it too will kick things off at midnight in two days time.
Nintendo Switch 2
Pre-orders begin Thursday, April 24, 2025 at midnight ET. Release date: Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Here are some quick links to the official listings for Switch 2 at Best Buy:
- Nintendo Switch 2 $450
- Nintendo Switch 2 + MarioKart World Bundle $500
- Mario Kart World $80
- Donkey Kong Bananza $70
Despite what I think some folks might have thought (myself included to some degree), this is midnight eastern time time we are talking about here at all three major retailers – April 24 at 12 a.m. ET.
That means that, technically speaking, pre-orders will go live on the west coast on April 23 at 9 p.m. PT.
Best Buy has also maintained that will be opening up its brick and mortar locations across the country on June 5 for launch day. This means that pre-ordering this week and opting for store pickup could mean you are among the very first folks to actually up-wrap, plug-in and play Switch 2 at home.
So here’s what we are looking at across the four major online retailers that have officially announced the start times:
- Best Buy April 24 at 12 a.m. ET online
- Target April 24 at 12 a.m. ET online
- Walmart April 24 at 12 a.m. ET online
- GameStop April 24 at 11 a.m. ET online (and when local in-store opens)
That of course leaves Amazon as the wild card here, but as of right now it’s hard to say if it will have pre-orders live at all. It wouldn’t be odd for Amazon to skip out entirely here, but it also wouldn’t be unheard of in any way shape or form for some random listings to pop up out of nowhere there on April 24 either.
