Nintendo officially launches Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance on Switch 2 GameCube library

The next Nintendo Switch 2 GameCube release has been revealed! After dropping Wario World into its GameCube Nintendo Classics back in December, Nintendo is injecting the collection with one of the more highly-anticipated titles from the GameCube library – Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance comes to Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics

While it appeared Nintendo was just going to release new GameCube titles in the same order it first showcased them in the debut trailer – it very much did this for the first bunch of them, it started to flip the script later in 2025 after what appeared to be a bunch of GameCube Pokemon titles were skipped over for Wario World and now Fire Emblem. We knew Path of Radiance was coming at some point or other – Nintendo specifically told us it was, but we weren’t sure when, until now.

At this point, it doesn’t look like Nintendo has revealed the game via the usual YouTube trailer we normally get, at least not on its U.S. account anyway (you can check out the Japanese launch trailer below). However, it did take its official U.S. newsfeed to announce the release of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance – the game is now live for all Switch 2 members with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack access.

This installment of the classic strategy role-playing series Fire Emblem was released for the Nintendo GameCube system in 2005. Fully-voiced cutscenes and 3D maps accompany the return of the brutal battle system where your units are gone for good if they fall in a fight! On the continent of Tellius, two races (the human beorc and the half-human laguz) have built a history of strife, mistrust, and compromise. Now, sinister forces emerge from the shadows to pit the two groups against each other. Follow the protagonist Ike and a colorful cast of characters as this grand drama unfolds around them. Dark days are rising…
