Nintendo has a serious leak problem right now, as we have already discussed. It seems as though just about all of its major 2026 releases have already surfaced online, leaving very little to the imagination when it comes to the upcoming summer and holiday Switch 2 release schedule. There are couple of other titles that have been mentioned among the leaks and, while they don’t come from sources quite as reliable as some of the others, if they do end up coming to fruition we could be in for a new Wario Land game and a potential new classic Metroid remake this year.
As we detailed previously, there were a couple of largely credible sources that seeded most of the big-time 2026 Switch 2 leaks to the interwebs. However, there were some other folks that who mentioned much of the same details beforehand alongside some additional tidbits.
This might, and a I stress might here, mean some of these other sources might have the jump on some other details that could very well be true as well.
A YouTube user by the name of Malo932 also claimed a new Star Fox game was inbound alongside a new Nintendo Switch Sports title of some kind – the same thing some of the particularly reliable leakers claimed days later for the first time as far as we can tell.
But this other leaker also mentioned a 2027 Wario Land game and a remake of Super Metroid. The latter of which would be one of the more compelling and exciting leaks of the entire slate here for many nostalgic gamers:
- There will be no mainline/major Nintendo Direct showcases until June
- New Switch 2 Star Fox game rumored to launch this summer
- Upcoming The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake for Switch 2
- Upcoming Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake Switch 2 special edition console
- Splatoon Raiders will release in the coming months
- Rhythm Heaven: Groove will release in the coming months
- Fire Emblem: Fortune Weave will release in the coming months
- Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition will release in the coming months
- Xenoblade 2 Switch 2 Edition will release in the coming months
- There will be no new 3D Mario game releasing until 2027
- Hell Is Us for Switch 2
- Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival for Switch 2
- Switch Sports for Switch 2
- Devil May Cry 5 for Switch 2
- Duskbloods release window
We of course cannot confirm or even corroborate the Super Metroid remake rumor, but the timing here is, at least a little bit, compelling. It certainly wouldn’t be a wild idea to have Nintendo unleash what sounds like a pixel-art remake of one of the more beloved titles from one of its biggest IP, and it has been long suspected to be the next remake on tap from the series after Metroid: Zero Mission and Metroid 2 landed on 3DS nearly a decade ago.
But something like this seems like it would be far better suited during some sort of special anniversary year or something along those lines, wouldn’t it? I mean this is Super Metroid after all.
I’m going to chalk this one up as what is perhaps the least believable and credible of the entire Q1 Nintendo Switch 2 leak, but I certainly hope it is true. The leaker in question seems to think this alleged remake is in development at MercurySteam (the same team behind Metroid Dread), will have pixel art as opposed to a complete ground up graphical overhaul, and that it will be releasing soon.
We’ll see.
