Nintendo will reportedly announce a new Star Fox Switch game this month

When is the next major Switch 2 game announcement going to be? Well, apparently very soon. Rumors and relatively reliable leakers have been divulging Nintendo’s 2026 release plans for a few weeks now, but it looks like what might very possibly be the most reliable of them all has just doubled down saying the first of these big announcements will happen this month.

One of the major leaks that has hit the webs over the last couple weeks is the existence and purported imminent release of a new Star Fox game. Details on this game are scant at best, but it sounds like it might very well be an all-new Switch 2 title and one that was initially rumored to be releasing this summer.

Considering Fox McCloud’s appearance in the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and the suggestion of the game releasing in the coming months, one would expect it to get officially revealed sooner than later.

NateTheHate appears to be been the source of the Star Fox rumor/leak from the jump, or at least the most credible of them. Nate popped up on X yesterday doubling down on some of his initial thoughts on the release, most importantly the announce window. It looks as though, if Nate is correct here, the new Switch 2 Star Fox game will be announced this month – in other words, any day now.

Rumor also has it there will not be another mainline Nintendo Direct until the summer, and Nate seems to think the new Star Fox game will be announced this month via the Nintendo Today app or just on X. That’s a bit of shame if you ask me – you would think a dedicated direct for a new Star Fox title right after Fox appeared in the new movie would be a fun time all around, but it wouldn’t be crazy for Nintendo to announce the game with less fanfare and then host a dedicated showcase down the line closer to release.

These leaks are often times not true at all, and this Star Fox might not be either, but we also might get our first major Switch 2 game announcement of the year very soon too.
