Forza Horizon 6 has leaked online. We obviously already know all about this one – this isn’t one of those leaks about an upcoming announcement, I mean the entire game is already out in the wild.
The game was reportedly pulled from the Steam preload, but it seems as though the files went out early and now the whole thing is all over the internet (and piracy sites) more than a week ahead of launch.
Various reports have surfaced suggesting unencrypted Forza Horizon 6 files (about 155GB of them) landed on SteamDB over the last couple days.
It sounds like the preload files that early adopters land ahead of the early access launch were not encrypted the way they usually are. Typically speaking these files can be preloaded on machines before an update lands on launch day to unencrypted them and give customers access to the game. That’s what happened this time, but the encryption landed too soon and the game was shared all over the net.
The new game is set to launch on Xbox and PC, as well as Game Pass, and I’m sure Microsoft is going to be doing everything it can to plug the leak and stop folks from streaming it early, but the damage has been done. Forza Horizon 6 is, however, one of the most wishlisted titles on Steam and already selling like gangbusters there, so while to some degree unfortunate, it will likely hit its final lap before launch at near full speed anyway.
It officially releases on May 19, with early access scheduled for May 15, and, at least at the time of writing, that appears to still be the case despite the leak.
