It is that time of year when the big game publishers start to announce their massive summer game showcases, and Sony has just penciled itself in with the next PlayStation State of Play.
Rumors are abound that Nintendo is planing what could be the first proper Nintendo Direct of the year for June, Summer Game Fest – arguably the biggest game showcase of the year – starts on June 5, and the massive Xbox 2026 Games Showcase is landing on its usual Sunday slot come June 7. But it looks like PlayStation will be first out of the gate this year in just under 2 weeks from now, as it has now announced its big summer show for June 2.
Sony has now taken to the official PlayStation Blog to announce the next State of Play and it’s going to be a big one.
Set to feature roughly an hour’s worth of upcoming game releases, the major PlayStation summer State of Play showcase goes live at 2:00 p.m. PT/5:00 p.m. ET on June 2 this year.
The more than 1 hour-long broadcast will feature “updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world.”
Sony says we will be getting more of Insomniac’s visceral new third-person action adventure game, Marvel’s Wolverine, with a closer look at “Logan’s brutal and relentless combat along with some new details. This all-new take on the comic book legend launches on PS5 September 15.”
That is all we know for now, but this is surely set to be a big show for Sony, coming just weeks after it pulls back on releasing its exclusives for PC and raising the price on PlayStation Plus.
