New unannounced Metroid game reportedly just leaked

Nintendo has had a tough year when it comes to leaks (more like two years at this point), which is to be expected in and around a major new console release. But after having what will almost certainly be its major holiday Switch 2 game leaked months ahead of time, and countless number of others, a new, as of yet un-announced Metroid game has now surfaced online.

There were rumors surrounding a Metroid remake of some sort being in the works at Nintendo, and that may still be the case, but it looks as though, if a recently spotted ratings board listing is indeed the real thing, we could be looking at an entirely new Metroid title here.

A Brazilian Ministry of Justice and Public Security posting, which has since been removed and can be seen below, mentions a brand new Metroid game known as Metroid Ravenous.

Here’s a screenshot of the listing snapped by an X user before it was taken down:

The listings mentions a production start date of 2026 alongside “violence–weapons, blood, death” and more.

What this seemingly new Metroid game might be is entirely unclear at this point, but some have suggested it could be a follow-up to Metroid Dread – this would make sense as far as timing goes (Dread released in 2021 and is very much due), and it is perhaps too soon to see some kind of Prime sequel hitting ratings boards at this point.

Dread was, as far as many are concerned, the last really good Metroid title after some were disappointed with last year’s Metroid Prime 4: Beyond experience.

No official confirmation has surfaced from Nintendo yet, but if this one is far enough long to hit the ratings boards, there is a chance it sees the light of day this year, at the very least in teaser form.
