In my opinion, the three best over-ear headphones you can buy are seeing solid price drops right now: Apple’s 2026 AirPods Max 2, the latest Bose QuietComfort Ultra (2nd Gen), and the super popular Sony WH-1000XM6.

You’re looking at up to $120 in savings here and solid deals across the board, but which is the best option?
Well, choosing headphones can be a subjective thing for sure, but for me in comes down to three main points: The look, the feel, and the sound.
Some folks are perhaps more focused on just how good the noise cancelling action is these days, but as someone who has specifically tested out these three options extensively, I can honestly say the difference when it comes to the ANC quality is negligible to my ears. There are certainly going to be folks more sensitive to this than I, and understandably so, but you really can’t go wrong with any of them in the ANC department.
When it comes to the way they look – The Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen) win this hands-down for me. The AirPods Max 2 look a little silly in my opinion on the head and the ear cups on the XM6 jut out just a little too much for me. Bose all the way in the looks department.
As far as build quality and premium feel, none of them come even close to the AirPods Max 2, and rightfully so considering the price and the folks who designed them. The Max 2 look and feel like they are worth at least $100 more, and they almost are right now with the Prime Day deals.
Comfort though? Sony all the way. This is certainly as subjective as anything, but I can wear these things for hours on end no probelm.
So which is the best option? For me, it is the Bose set. The price is right, they look great, sound great, deliver world class ANC, and are the most affordable right now.
But I think the real point here is that the best over-ears you can buy are seeing deep deals right now for Prime Day, so whichever you are drawn to you are going to save some cash.
