Prime Day Stories July 8, 2016

Today Amazon has delivered on its promise to extend exclusive Prime Day discounts to Prime members who shop with an Alexa-enabled device (Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap). Current offers can be viewed at this Amazon promo page or by simply asking the Alexa voice assistant. What’s more, all Prime members who shop using Alexa through July 12th will save an additional $10 on their first eligible purchase of $20 or more. Both of these discounts stack, which yields some incredible deals.

For example, today only you can get an Amazon Tap Alexa-Enabled Portable Bluetooth Speaker for just $69 shipped by shouting your order at Alexa. As a price comparison, it typically sells for $129.99. Just remember, you’ll need to qualify for both discounts in order to lock in that pricing. If you’ve already redeemed your one-time $10 offer, your final price for the Amazon Tap will be $79 shipped (still a great deal!). You can also get a drone equipped with a camera for only $15 Prime shipped.

Prime Day Stories July 13, 2015

Black Friday may be more than 136 days away, but the way Amazon and Walmart are competing right now makes it feel like we’re knee-deep in the holiday shopping season.

Amazon made the first move last week when it announced Prime day, a 24-hour period of exclusive deals for Amazon Prime members. Then late last week we noticed Walmart put up a banner that said “Low Price every day for everyone. No sales. No gimmicks. No membership fees.” A clear shot at Amazon and its $99 Prime membership. Now this morning Fernando Madeira, President and CEO of, penned a blog post about how Walmart’s prices are always low and that Walmart doesn’t require customers to pay additional fees to access sale prices. Another clear shot at Amazon.

However, these two gigantic corporations bickering is good news for deal seekers. Not only are we getting Amazon’s Prime Day this week, but Walmart has announced a week of special deals including some of “atomic” proportions. Walmart’s free shipping threshold has also been dropped from $50 to $35, which is (I’m sure) not coincidentally the same as Amazon’s for non Prime shoppers.

We expect to hear more details surrounding Walmart’s deals in the next few days, while Prime Day officially kicks off on Wednesday. We will have complete coverage of both events so be sure to follow along.

Prime Day Stories July 6, 2015

Next week Amazon will celebrate its 20th birthday with thousands of deals. This Prime member exclusive event, called Prime Day, is set to offer “more deals than Black Friday” on toys, video games, movies, clothing, patio, lawn and garden, sports and outdoor items and more. Prime Day falls on Wednesday, July 15th, which is the day before Amazon’s big birthday.

As of right now the deals are still a mystery, but we do know Amazon will be running thousands of Lightning deals and seven Deals of the Day.

Again, your ticket to Amazon’s birthday party is Prime. If you’re not yet a member, go ahead and activate a free trial right now so you can be ready for next week’s deal bonanza. On top of free 2-day shipping, Prime members also get access to Prime Instant Video, unlimited photo cloud storage, early access to Lightning deals, access to more than 500,000 ebooks and more. expand full story
