Happy Pokémon Day 2026 Trainers! Today’s festivities are kicking off with the launch of Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 and the release of the all-new Pokémon LEGO sets, both of which are now live. Shortly after that, The Pokémon Company will host this year’s special 30th anniversary Pokémon Presents showcase for a look at what’s to come in the Pokéverse this year – TCG, mobile titles, new Switch games, and more.
Pokémon Day 2026
Pokémon Day 2026 has arrived and this year is going to be a special one. February 27 is always Pokémon Day but this year’s festivities mark exactly 30 years since the original Pokémon Red and Blue debuted in 1996 and The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, and others have some big plans in store for new content, game releases, and more.
In fact, it has already been quite notable year for pocket monsters, with the reveal of the Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen earlier this week, the all-new LEGO sets that were teased last year hitting store shelves this morning, and our first good look at Pokémon Pokopia gameplay. But there’s still a whole lot more to come.

Pokémon Presents
Today The Pokémon Company will host a Pokémon Presents livestream showcase. We are in for some “exciting updates and announcements” from across the Kanto Region and beyond, new Switch games, mobile games, and likely a whole lot more than that.
Today’s Pokémon Day 30th anniversary Pokémon Presents showcase will go live in the U.S. at 6 a.m. PT/9 a.m. ET and you can watch it on official social channels (we will post the embed as soon as goes live). We expect the show to run for roughly 25 minutes, but you never know in a 30th anniversary year.
What to expect from today’s Pokémon Presents
We are very much hoping for a Pokémon GameCube announcement – both Pokémon Colosseum and Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness have already been confirmed to be landing in the GameCube Switch Online Nintendo Classics library, and today seems a perfect time to announce the release.
It is highly likely we will see see all new content and even reveals for Pokémon TCG, Pokémon TCG Pocket, Pokémon Cafe Remix, and Pokémon Go, but I think what we all really want to see is a new mainline Gen 10 Pokémon game for Nintendo Switch 2.

Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen
One of this year’s biggest Pokémon Day announcements and reveals might have already happened when Nintendo revealed that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen would be landing in the eShop as standalone experiences for Switch and Switch 2. Both titles are now up on the eShop (scheduled to release immediately after today’s Pokémon Presents) to deliver some classic pocket monster action to your current-generation Nintendo console.
- Pokémon FireRed Version Switch pre-order $20
- Pokémon LeafGreen Version Switch pre-order $20
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen are, fittingly for this year’s 30th anniversary, remakes of the original Pokémon Red and Blue that released on Game Boy Advance. It might not be the actual Pokémon Red and Blue, but it is very close all things considered. You can learn more about the new Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for Nintendo Switch right here.

Pokémon Day 30th anniversary announcements and more
Today has also brought us the release of Eevee, Pikachu, Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise in brick built LEGO form – scope out all of the details on the new LEGO sets right here – and much more ahead of today’s Pokémon Presents showcase, but you will want to stay tuned as we are expecting big things from Nintendo and the Pokémon Company today.
We will have video coverage of all the announcements over on our official YouTube channel before we head over to the Pokémon Day festivities at the Nintendo NEW YORK store later today – stay tuned!
