It’s Pokémon Day 2026 and the reveals are coming in fast. The new Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for Switch and Switch 2 is now live on the eShop and we just our first look at the brand new mainline Pokémon Winds and Waves games for Nintendo Switch 2. But alongside a host of other updates and announcements in today’s Pokémon Presents, we also confirmation and details on the next game coming to the GameCube Nintendo Classics library – Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness!
Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness GameCube release date
There were a few things just about everyone wanted out of this year’s 30th anniversary. One was some kind of classic remake for Switch and Switch 2…check. Another was the reveal of the next mainline Pokémon game…check. And thirdly was some kind of update on when those two Pokémon titles already announced for the GameCube library would be landing, and that is (almost) exactly what we got.
We already knew Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness and Pokémon Colosseum were coming – Nintendo revealed these two titles for its GameCube library last year when it announced it, but there were no firm dates or even any idea when that would be – that changes today.
We still have no details (at the time of writing) on Pokémon Colosseum but The Pokémon Company just revealed Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness will be launching on the GameCube Nintendo Classics library for Nintendo Switch 2 in March of this year. There were no firm dates given, but that does mean it will go live in the coming weeks and Nintendo will surely give up the exact date soon.
