Microsoft’s next-generation Xbox Elite 3 gamepad leaks online [Images]

Just hours after images of Microsoft’s alleged upcoming cloud gaming control leaked online, it appears as though we are also getting an early look at the next-generation Xbox Elite 3 Controller.

A regulatory body in Brazil known as Anatel seems to have accidentally published images of an upcoming Microsoft Cloud Gaming controller, and now it looks as though it has done so for what’s purportedly the next Elite 3 gamepad.

As spotted by Tecnoblog (via The Verge), the new controller (seen above) features a familiar form-factor with what look to be two new buttons joined by some paddles and an an interchangeable D-Pad.

On the underside, just below the D-Pad and thumbstick, there are a pair of scroll wheel controls – it is unclear at this time what they might be for, but one could imagine something similar to what is found on some of the more premium gaming and productivity mice out there, or perhaps just a “new” sort of pitch/yoke input/control method entirely.

Around back there looks to be a compartment to house a removable battery – the Anatel documents describe a smaller 1,528mAh removable battery by comparison to the existing Elite 2 model’s 2,050mAh power pack.

Lastly, the documents describe a new pair button of sorts that seemingly will allow gamers to flip between a local or cloud mode (for Xbox Cloud Gaming action). This is also something that was mentioned in the leak earlier today for the compact Microsoft Cloud Gaming controller and is presumed to aid in latency when connecting to cloud servers.

WE cannot confirm any of this, and the Elite 3 controller itself looks, at least to me, more like a rough prototype (but I guess that just might be a lighting thing or something?), but we will likely find out sooner than later if these new Xbox gamepads are slated for a 2026 release.
