We are now less than a month away from dawning the Hero of Time’s green tunic and returning to Hyrule in the The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. While Amazon is still offering physical copies with a notable $10 discount, Best Buy has announced a special nationwide midnight celebration for launch.
Best Buy is not offering the pre-order discount like Amazon is right now, but it will be opening nearly all of its U.S. stores at midnight for launch day. You can of course just score the digital copy and play it the second the clocks strikes midnight on November 5 anyway, but this Best Buy event will likely deliver best chance to secure a physical as soon as possible.
Best Buy tells us that “nearly all U.S. stores will open Nov. 5 at midnight ET — that means 11 p.m. CT, 10 p.m. MT and 9 p.m. PT on Nov. 4.”
You’ll likely want to pre-order a copy now and select store pickup if you’re looking to get in on the midnight action, but Best Buy will have copies of the game in store that night as well – likely in limited quantity.
On top of that, Best Buy stores will also have a limited number of The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 System and The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 Pro Controller available for purchase, both of which are largely sold out everywhere right now. How many of each will actually be available is unknown and almost certainly limited – you’ll probably need to be there well ahead of time and get lucky to score either of them.
In select stores Thursday, November 5, midnight ET
Pick up this highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive when it’s released. Limited numbers of The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 system and Pro Controller will also be available. Nintendo Switch 2 system and Pro Controller: Limited quantities; no rainchecks; game not included. Game: While supplies last. Store hours may vary
I would rather score it at $10 off right now on Amazon and wait for it to ship, but if you do want a physical copy as soon as possible, the Best Buy Ocarina of Time midnight situation is likely your best bet.
