Logitech aims to take over your whole home with its new Harmony Elite remote

Logitech has pulled the veil back on the newest addition to its family of universal remotes: the Harmony Elite. Touted as the company’s “top-of-the-line” option, this new model brings a refreshed touch screen interface and added support for smart home devices like Philips Hue lights and SONOS speakers.

Clearly, this is designed to be a luxury universal remote. It has a touchscreen, held over from the previous generation, as well as motion sensing accelerometers and vibration feedback. Logitech has added support for up to 15 connected home devices in addition to any entertainment devices.

Aside from the 2.4-inch touchscreen, the Harmony Elite has a button layout that is very similar to the more affordable Simple Remote. The added light and smart outlet controls at the bottom provide easy access to powering your Internet of Things devices throughout your home. A tapered design gets thicker at the bottom where the connectors are for charging the remote in the included cradle.

The whole system operates out of the Logitech’s Harmony Home Hub which is boosted by two included RF repeaters. This small black hockey puck sits in your entertainment cabinet and beams out signals to your devices while managing connections to your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled devices.

Logitech doesn’t provide specific details, but claims this new remote will get about 20% longer battery life over the previous generation model. Other notable features include Logitech’s massive library of over 270,000 devices as well as the included iOS and Android app that also acts as a remote.

The Logitech Harmony Elite is available for pre-order today with a $349.99 price tag. It will be available to ship later this month. We will have a full review of this new product in the coming weeks.
