Jelly Mario reimagines the iconic game with zero-gravity gameplay in your browser

If you’re anything like us, the re-invention of Nintendo’s war chest of retro games has been a welcome sight in recent years. While the SNES Classic is still hard to come by, there’s always been alternative ways to enjoy your favorite 80’s and 90’s games. Well, developer Stefan Hedman has a new idea for an old classic. Welcome to Jelly Mario. This browser-based game drops the tight controls we loved about the Mario series for an anti-gravity experience that has to be seen.

Stefan Hedman has re-created the first two levels of Super Mario, delivering a hilarious experience that’s out of this world. Those used to the original controls will notice a wide variety of differences here. For instance, if you run into a goomba your character will fly backwards with great force. The music also sounds so weird, like a trippy Pink Floyd remix of the iconic soundtrack.

There’s not word how long Jelly Mario will live in your browser with potential concerns over copyright violations. It’s worth at least one round, just to experience this crazy recreation. You can play the game in your browser here.
