Brava has introduced its new smart oven, designed to reimagine the way we make dinner thanks to what it calls Pure Light Cooking. The gas is gone, along with any other type of fuel, swapped out for proprietary heat lamps that Brava says will change the way we spend time in the kitchen.
The big claim here is that Brava’s new smart oven will “cook an entire meal with less energy than a traditional oven uses to pre-heat.” That’s a significant promise from a company that is looking to re-shape kitchens one oven at a time. Of course, it’s going to cost you…
Silicon Valley is known as the land of emerging tech, but also it’s apparently the home to reimagined kitchens. Brava showed off its new smart oven in Palo Alto earlier this week, asking those in tow imagine spending at least $1,000 on a new countertop oven. You can just about assume that this will be a hard sell for most, not only for its price tag, but the additional room that it promises to take up in the kitchen.
Brava looks to calm any consumer-enduced worries in a few different ways. First up is the design. Brava leans on all the latest trends from big names in tech with an aluminum case, sleek curves and a simple look. Add in smartphone-control and Brava appears to have the next modern oven.
Where things really go to the next level is that light-powered cooking system. A handful of Pure Light lamps fire up immediately and can be used individually to cook at separate temperatures if needed. For example, you can broil one area of your meal while just heating another portion. Brava touts excellent control over the cooking process as one of its biggest selling points.
“We have created a dynamic culinary engine that beautifully enhances the kitchen experience. Whether you’re a first-time cook or a skilled chef, Brava removes the stress and anxiety of preparing a meal and gives you confidence in the kitchen. From family dinners to date nights in, a quick lunch for yourself or hosting friends, our goal is to take the heavy lifting out of cooking to spend more quality time with loved ones,” said John Pleasants, CEO of Brava.
Brava also plans on removing any of the guesswork that can, at times, intimidate some chefs in the kitchen. Alogrithms, smartphone control and an integrated camera all promise to take your food from raw to precisely cooked without much fuss. Of course, you can keep an eye on the whole cooking process from your smartphone.
The Brava Smart Oven is available for pre-order today from $995. It’s slated to being shipping in October.
