Apple quietly updated their entire iMac lineup yesterday and they are pretty much the only game in town currently shipping the new desktop computers. This spells trouble for savvy buyers looking for a deal. It will take a week or so for authorized resellers (Best Buy, Newegg, B&H, etc) to stock each iMac model and only then will we start to see any sort of appreciable discount. It should be noted that MacMall is currently showing a $5 discount across the board but they are not specifying ship times. Amazon is also offering preorders.
Authorized resellers typically offer the best deals thanks to potential tax savings (at the time of purchase) and a higher propensity to offer discounts as way to be competitive. We saw $50 discounts only a month after the new Haswell MacBook Airs were released, so it shouldn’t be too long until the new iMacs see a price drop.
If you simply hold of purchasing a new iMac it is best to go directly through Apple and use any discounts that may apply to you (education, military, corporate, etc). If you are planning to add AppleCare to your new iMac be sure to grab it from an authorized reseller as their prices typically trump Apple direct.

Also it has Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, and is pre-loaded with iLife ’11, iWorks ’09, and Microsoft Office 2011. All of the units for sale have been refurbished by Apple authorized technicians.
The Next Macbook on sale is from DailySteals.com. It is a 17” Intel Quad-Core i7 for only $1499. It comes with a SuperDrive, Thunderbolt Port, 4GB RAM, 750GB HD & OS X Snow Leopard and it also comes with a 1 Year Apple Warranty. As one of their deals of the day, Best Buy is offering a refurbished Samsung Chromebook 11.6″ WiFi/2GB/16GB Flash for $170 with free shipping. That is a total savings of $80 off retail and $30 below the lowest price we had seen before today’s deal. The Samsung Chromebook provides an 11.6-inch display, Samsung Exynos 5250 Dual Core Processor, 2GB of RAM, 2 USB ports, and HDMI.
9to5Google reviewed the Chromebook and found it to be perfect for light computing (web browsing, word processing, email, etc).
At $250, this is a no-brainer buy for many people. Just for Google’s bump in services alone, this is a compelling offer. Google gives you 100 GB of online space—something that normally costs $60 per year—free. It also hooks you up with 12 Gogo in-flight Internet vouchers that are worth around $10 each. That means (on data costs alone) the Chromebook breaks free just after two years of use. Plus, you get a very usable machine to ‘boot’.
So, who is this for? If you depend on your computer’s speed for your livelihood, this computer is going to be frustratingly slow. Get a faster machine like a high-end MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. However, if you want to have a backup machine or a secondary machine, the Samsung Chromebook makes a lot of sense for emergencies.
Amazon reviewers love it too, extending a 4 star rating from over 2,400 entries.
