Sol Republic’s new Amps Air 2.0 Total Wireless Earbuds now available at $130

Despite a fair share of AirPod criticism out there, Apple’s truly wireless earbuds have been especially popular on 9to5Toys when they go on sale. Just about everyone from Sol Republic to Bose and Anker have jumped in to the entirely wireless space. And new second generation sets are coming down the pipeline on a steady basis. Speaking of which, Sol Republic is readying its latest solution with the announcement of the brand new Amps Air 2.0 Total Wireless Earbuds.

The original Sol Republic Amps Air earbuds dropped way back in 2016 and are still available from around $100 or so on Amazon. This time around, Sol Republic is looking to bring customers the same basic feature set with enhancements and upgrades across the board.

More specifically, we are looking at improved microphone functionality, charging features and protection measures. The new Bluetooth 5.0 truly wireless earbuds include all the usual features. We are getting entirely wireless transmission as well as a multi-function button for calls and music play back.

Sol is also spending a good portion of today’s announcement touting the newly designed charging case and battery life possibilities. These wireless earbuds get roughly 3-hours of playback on a single charge. But the included case can get the job done up to 15 times. That offers a total playtime of 45 hours. The charging case comes with a more sleek design with “smoother lid operation” and a “more form-fitting seating to ensure a proper charge connection.”

The Amps Air 2.0 now include an improved series of “IPX4 tested materials” that offer up both sweat and rain-resistance. While not everybody is going to require their AirPod-competitors to support casual listening and workouts, clearly this adds loads of value for a good portion of the market.

According to today’s press release, the new Sol Republic Amps Air 2.0 Total Wireless Earbuds carry a suggested retail price of $179. The Amazon listings for the new buds are still at $180 (black, blue, gold, gray). But Sol Republic has them down at $129.99 direct right now. Just as a price comparison here, the Bose SoundSport truly wireless options go for $200 which is about $40 more than Apple’s AirPods and $70 above the new Amps Air 2.0.

While not truly wireless earbuds, we also have some great headphones deals right now from Beats, Audio-Technica, Master & Dynamic and Jabra.
