Nintendo officially confirms Hollow Knight: Silksong for gamescom 2025 + Metroid 4, FF VII remake, more

I came way feeling pretty good about the recent Indie World showcase, but mostly just because of the Mina the Hollower confirmation and the subsequent FREE demo you can play right now. Others, not to so much – Hollow Knight: Silksong did not make an appearance, because of course it didn’t, but it will be making an official appearance at the Switch 2 gamescom booth in Germany later this month, according to one of Nintendo’s EU X accounts

Hollow Knight: Silksong confirmed for Nintendo Gamescom booth

As you can see from the official artwork above (and in full below), Nintendo has confirmed a number of top-tier games will be playable at its booth in Cologne from August 20 to August 24.

Two of these games were titles most folks presumed and hoped would see official release dates as part of the recent Indie World – Hollow Knight: Silksong and Hades 2…both of which did not, as you know, make an appearance. Other titles confirmed for the show floor at Nintendo’s booth include Elden Ring, Borderlands 4, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the new Pokémon game, and Cyberpunk 2077m, among others.

This still does really gives us much information on when we might get the Hollow Knight: Silksong Switch 2 release date – quite possibly the most anticipated and long-awaited announcement in a very long time now, but it does make that gamescom opening night showcase all the more enticing.

Could we actually get the Silksong release date or at least a better look at it then? Well yes, but we won’t know for sure until gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 goes live at 8 p.m. local time (2 p.m. ET).
