A full-blown Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake is all but imminent at this point. In fact, Ubisoft has already confirmed the existence of the new Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, folks have already seen it in action ahead of this week’s expected official reveal, and we have some details for you below – this is not just a basic remaster for modern platforms.
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced details
Rumors surrounding a Black Flag remake went from internet wishlists to much more tangible likelihood over the last year or so. Ubisoft has since confirmed Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced and folks in the know claim it should be revealed this week ahead of a summer release in July 9, 2026.
While there were some early rumors surrounding the game changing significantly to offer a more RPG-like experience akin to some of the new titles in the long running series, all signs point to that very much not being the case.
However, this is, according to reports – Ubisoft has already shown the game to a select few – this is not just a simple remaster. It is said to be an actual remake running on a modern version of the Anvil engine with updated visuals and a host of gameplay additions, new missions, and more.
Here’s a quick overview of some of the additions said to be coming to the upgraded experience in just a few months now:
- It runs on the latest Anvil Engine.
- It introduces a host of new story and gameplay content, including add-on missions, some additional backstory chapters to play through, new cremates and officers
- Underwater exploration/mechanics have been much-improved (or expanded in some way)
- Players, will reportedly, be able to have a pet monkey or cat on their ship
We can’t confirm all of this stuff, but with all of the details surfacing online and considering Ubisoft is confirmed to have show the game already, it seems a very good chance any or all of this stuff is indeed true. And even if it isn’t, it very much seems as though this is going to be a proper $60 or $70 remake, and not just a lazy remaster for modern consoles and the like.
Stay tuned, and official reveal of Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced should be inbound any day now (if not sometime today).
