Nintendo has officially announced a new Pokémon Pokopia Nintendo Switch 2 console bundle. However, it’s probably not the one you were hoping for, and there’s no word yet if this one is even coming stateside.
This year’s Pokémon Pokopia has a been a big hit for Nintendo since release, combining a wonderful Animal Crossing-like take on the pocket monster experience with elements of Minecraft and Dragon Quest Builders. Over a 4-day period at launch in March, it moved more than 2.2 million copies.
Fast forward to today, and Nintendo has now confirmed it will launch a new Nintendo Switch 2 bundled with Pokémon Pokopia in the box next month starting on June 5. The thing is, it has only been confirmed for Australia and New Zealand and there’s word of it landing in other regions at this point.
It follows the release of the Mario Kart World launch bundle and the Pokémon Legends: Z-A bundles, and will, like the other two, reportedly launch with a slight discount over buying the console and game separately.
This is, unfortunately, not a limited edition console though – it’s just a regular Switch 2 and a copy of Pokopia included with a slight discount. Huge missed opportunity if you ask me, as new Pokopia-themed Switch 2 hardware might very well have flew of the shelves worldwide. Nintendo presumably doesn’t have the bandwidth to be messing with the Switch 2 supply/manufacturing chain at this point, but it could have been epic – the new box looks pretty sweet though?
We will keep an eye out for any details and hints towards a U.S. release on this one, but nothing yet. At least we have the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake and the special edition Ocarina of Time Switch 2 console rumored to start making headlines as early as this summer?
