In less than 24 hours, we will finally get to see The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake, and probably a whole lot more. Nintendo is set to go live tomorrow morning with a very special Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct, and, save for the reveal of Switch 2, it might be the biggest Nintendo presentation in years.
Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct
The Zelda franchise is one of the most beloved and popular in all of gaming. And this isn’t just any old anniversary year either, this is the one where we already know Nintendo is readying the release of a remake for one of the biggest, best, and most popular games in history – Ocarina of Time.
Nintendo has not actually given any specifics on what will be on display during tomorrow’s Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct. However, we do know we will be getting “roughly 30 minutes” on a “variety of The Legend of Zelda related information.”
One can only assume this will have to include a release date, more details, and actual gameplay footage for The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time Remake. I mean it has to right?
How can the dedicated Zelda Direct last that long without actually giving us a better look at the biggest thing? This is Nintendo’s big holiday Switch 2 release, and one of the most anticipated Nintendo releases in years.
That said, there also has to be more than just the remake on display here. It is “The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct,” after all, not the Ocarina of Time showcase.
What else will Nintendo show during The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct?
Well, images of a Zelda 40th Anniversary special edition Switch 2 leaked recently, and one can only assume that, if it is actually real, Nintendo will finally make it official tomorrow morning. This will most likely include the console, a Pro controller, and Joy-Con 2.
You would think Nintendo could easily fill up the 30-minute slot with just the Ocarina of Time remake demonstration and the special edition console. But something’s telling me it has a bunch more up its sleeve than that:
- New Zelda/Ocarina of Time amiibo
- Something special for Switch Online
- Something regarding a Twilight Princess remake/re-release
- A teaser for an all-new Zelda game coming next year
- Special 40th Anniversary merch
- A new, proper look at the upcoming live-action Zelda movie
Twilight Princess is the only major Zelda game you can’t play on Switch right now – it could land on Switch Online but it also wouldn’t be uncommon for Nintendo to release the game in some sort of limited-time package like it has for its magical plumber during Mario anniversaries in the past.
Either way, the lock is ticking fast now with less than 24 hours left until Nintendo takes the virtual stage to celebrate Link and Zelda’s 40th anniversary.
