Insider leaks big June Nintendo Direct, reportedly slated for early next week

Nintendo historically hosts a big Direct in June, but last year things were seemingly shifted because of the Switch 2 launch and this left expectations up in the air for 2026. However, industry insiders claimed we were getting something along those lines this month, and one of them just doubled down to confirm/leak the date.

We should start off by saying we cannot confirm or corroborate these details, but we have heard similar claims from sources of our own.

Jeff Grub – well known gaming personality and industry insider to some degree – was largely responsible for putting June Nintendo Direct on the internet. And Grub has now claimed Nintendo has something in store for next week on Tuesday, June 9.

Nintendo does usually host a Direct of some kind in June, as we detailed previously, it does like a good Tuesday morning slot for these things, and this is exactly what it might have in the works this year.

Outside of last year where the new Donkey Kong Bananza took the limelight with a dedicated Direct, Nintendo has hosted a proper Direct presentation in June for the last couple years before that in 2023 and 2024 – considering the Switch 2 is here and this would effectively be its first major summer showcase, Nintendo is certainly due.

It sounds like, according to Grub, the next Nintendo Direct (or some kind of accouncement) will take place on June 9 in the usual 6 a.m. PT/9:00 a.m. ET slot. We can’t say for sure, and Nintendo has been even more hard to clock since leaks flooded all over the internet over the last couple months, but we might actually be getting the Direct we were hoping for. And if not, we might even get a dedicated Zelda Ocarina of Time remake showcase featuring the new game and maybe even the rumored special edition Switch 2 console.
