Donkey Kong 64 now live on Switch Online

Just after Nintendo teased all-new official LEGO Donkey Kong sets, Nintendo announced the classic Donkey Kong 64 for Switch Online, and that day is here. The 1999 release is now live and playable in the Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics library for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members.

While we are all awaiting an official announcement of the potentially upcoming June Nintendo Direct – it is going to be a big one hopefully, if it happens at all – we will at least be able to enjoy some 64-bit 3D Donkey Kong action on Switch 2.

Last week Nintendo revealed the imminent upcoming release of its N64 DK adventure for Switch Online Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members as part of the N64 Nintendo Classics library, and release day has arrived. Members will now find the classic Kong game and its epic DK Rap theme song ready and waiting.

You can now play as Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, Lanky Kong, and Chunky Kong “as they fight to keep DK Island safe from K. Rool and his Kremling crew in Donkey Kong 64.”

With his mechanical isle stuck off the shores of DK Island, K. Rool kidnaps the Kong family to distract Donkey Kong. It’s up to our furry hero to rescue his friends, reclaim his Golden Bananas, and save his homeland from certain doom. Choose from five Kong members as you play solo in a quirky adventure or with friends in competitive battle arenas!
