Super Mario Sunshine lands on Switch 2
Nintendo told us Mario Sunshine was coming to the GameCube library over a year ago now when the platform was first announced for Switch Online as part of the Nintendo Switch 2 launch. The service launched with Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Soulcalibur 2, and F-Zero GX, followed by a steady, albeit not overly expansive, lineup of new additions in the months following, but Sunshine has finally arrived for late summer 2026.
It revealed the Super Mario Sunshine August 13 release late last month alongside the Enter the Third Dimension! – Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics trailer that ushered in a series of previously unreleased Virtual Boy titles.
And today we are getting a new Nintendo Classics GameCube trailer for the game as it goes live for Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers with a Switch 2:
Mario, Peach, and an entourage of Toads have come to Isle Delfino—a sun-drenched island resort to relax and unwind. At least, that’s the plan. But when they arrive, someone has made a mess of the whole island and the inhabitants say Mario is to blame! The falsely accused Mario has promised to clean up the island (and his reputation) and pursue the real culprit along the way as he recovers the vanished energy source of the island, Shine Sprites. Use the trusty FLUDD on Mario’s back to tidy up and launch into water-based action, from spraying enemies to flying through the air with powerful streams of water.
Along with it, you will also now find the Super Mario Sunshine OST on Nintendo Music
