Update 9/21 @ 3:35 PM: Now available for preorder at Amazon.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate may be getting all the attention from Nintendo as of late, but it’s not the only upcoming Switch title that has fans eagerly awaiting its release. Back in May we detailed how the first Pokémon titles would be coming to the Switch this fall, and today we’re getting a look at a new special edition console to go with the two releases.
Sporting a variety of Pikachu and Eevee insignia, the upcoming bundle includes two new Joy-Cons with fresh coats of paint alongside everything you need to catch them all. Head below for all the details.
As far as Switch bundles go, the new Pikachu and Eevee Edition console is arguably one of the more visually appealing and charming releases, at least for Pokémon fans. On the back of Nintendo’s console you’ll find a mosaic of silhouettes of Pikachu and Eevee in various poses. To complement the console itself, the Switch is joined by two Joy-Cons in all-new colorways. The left-hand controller is rocking a khaki exterior for Eevee while the right-hand Joy-Con comes in a bright yellow Pikachu-like finish.
The console’s charging dock has been given the same type of treatment, with both titular Pokémon making their way to the front of the dock. The Switch is then joined by a digital copy of one of the new Pokémon games depending on which of the console bundles you opt for, as well as one of the PokéBall Plus controllers.
So far there’s no exact date on when you’ll be able to order Nintendo’s latest special edition console, though it is very likely we’ll see it go up for preorder relatively shortly. The bundle is now available for purchase at GameStop. Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu/ Eevee are both slated to release on November 16th and this new bundle will be arriving with the new titles as well.
It will sell for $400, which is the same price as buying a Switch, Pokémon Let’s Go and the PokéBall Plus controller separately. So while you’ll be scoring a pretty sweet new version of the console, you won’t be picking up any savings along the way.
With an already extremely strong roster of games, it seems there are very few hold outs on the Switch. But for those who have been waiting for a Pokémon game to finally come to Nintendo’s hybrid console, the limited edition bundle is a great way to be ready to play on day one and show off your love for the franchise.
