While Black Friday is clearly one of the biggest shopping holidays in the US, Boxing Day tends to offer even deeper sales north of the border for Canadians. But over the past few years more and more Canadian retailers are adopting the popular American tradition, and this year is no exception.

Like in the U.S, major retailers are offering week long deals leading right up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, Target and Future Shop, among others, have already launched early pre-Black Friday sales. Others, like Canadian Tire, will be kicking off deals starting on the 27th and running them through the weekend.

Best Buy has a number of Sony, Samsung and LG HDTV’s on sale through this week, as well as up to $200 off Retina Macbook Pros and other PC laptops. Come Friday the retailer will be offering GoPro discounts as well as a PS4 with The Last of US Remastered and GTA V for $449 ($520 value). We will also see a 50-inch Vizio smart HDTV under $500 and PC laptop discounts. Many of Best Buy’s Black Friday deals are set to begin at 11:59pm on November 27th.

Walmart is already offering discounts across pretty much every product category from HDTVs and headphones to home goods, tools, toys and much more. Walmart is also expected to have some of the best gaming deals around come Friday including a PlayStation 4 with The Last of Us and a $75 Walmart Gift Card for $449.99 ($525 value) and the Xbox One with Assassin’s Creed Unity, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and a $50 Walmart Gift Card for $349 ($450 value). There will also be PS4 and Xbox One games starting at $24.99 including Watch Dogs, The Evil Within, Titanfall and more. Deals kick off midnight on November 28th.

After sitting idly while its biggest competitors released Black Friday Ads and announced Pre-Black Friday Sales, Amazon has finally detailed its Black Friday 2014 plans.

Here’s how it shakes out:

Amazon will offer eight days of Black Friday deals, with new deals being added “as often as every ten minutes.” Additionally, Amazon will offer three Gold Box Deals of the Day on Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Just in time for the Black Friday deal season, Microsoft announced a $50 price drop coming to all major retailers for Xbox One consoles and bundles last week. While most stores ended up offering the deal early on some bundles, we are now seeing the discounts live across a number of retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, Microsoft Store, Walmart, Target and more.

Starting at $349 for the entry level Xbox One without Kinect, Microsoft’s latest console is now $50 under the regular price of Sony’s PlayStation 4. Amazon is following up its $99 Fire TV streaming media player with a $39 streaming HDMI stick, which is similar to Google Chromecast (reg. $35, on sale for $28 w/ $5 credit) and Roku Stick ($49). Fire TV Stick includes a physical remote, which doubles as a gaming controller. Aditionally, for a $30 up-charge, you can outfit your Fire TV Stick with a voice remote to take advantage of Voice Search. A free remote app is also available now for Android and will be landing on iOS shortly.

According to Amazon, the Fire TV Stick has 4 times as much storage (8GB) and 2 times as much memory (1GB) of Chromecast. Amazon is now shipping its newest e-reader, the Kindle Voyage, and reviews have been trickling in over the past couple of days from assorted tech publications.

Kindle Voyage is a technological achievement. It packs a high-resolution 300ppi display, adaptive front light, and the all-new PagePress force sensor to simulate a page-turn. In general, reviewers absolutely love this device and consider it by far the best electronic reading experience ever. But at $199 are these features worth a $120 up-charge over the new Kindle or even an additional $80 compared to the Paperwhite? That question isn’t as easy to answer…

QNAP NAS servers can be a handy way to store your shared files/assets/videos at home or at the office. It houses an Intel Atom 2.13 GHz Dual-core processor with up to four 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch hard drives or SSDs. You can even “connect a HDTV to the TS-469L via HDMI to enjoy high-definition multimedia content stored on your TS-469L.”

QNAP Turbo NAS servers are a new approach for sharing digital photos, music, and movies/videos, and keeping home computers backed up. We still have over 45 days to go until Black Friday in the US, but retailers are already starting to show their hand. Earlier today, Amazon officially kicked off the Black Friday deal season by announcing that Prime members will get 30-minute early access to select Lightning deals.

This early access will make it much easier for Prime members to score some of Amazon’s hottest holiday deals. All eligible Lightning deals are labeled “Prime Early Access Deal.” Prime members will also have early access to fashion deals at MyHabit.com, which is a membership-only site that was founded by Amazon.
