With Nintendo’s SNES Classic slated to arrive on Friday, vintage gamers are eagerly anticipating a weekend filled with 16-bit nostalgia. To no surprise, accessory makers are beginning to also unveil new add-ons for the throwback console. HORI is slated to release its SNES Classic Fighting Commander Wireless Controller with a customizable interface, turbo functions for each button and more. All of which is set to arrive for just $25 at the end of the week.

As one of the more respected video game accessory makes in the industry, it’s no surprise that HORI is turning its attention to Nintendo’s latest release. Designed after the original Fighting Commander controller, this new version offers updated features reminiscent of Xbox One Elite and others.

That includes the ability to set auto-fire switches and slow-motion keys when needed for top-grade performance. What really sets HORI’s controller apart is that all six buttons, including left and right shoulder, are found on the front of the gamepad. This makes it an ideal companion for Street Fighter II, as its namesake suggests.

Initially thought to be a Japan-exclusive, the Fighting Commander popped up on Amazon this week with a Friday pre-order date. It’s $24.99 price tag makes it a relatively easy purchase as an add-on to the SNES Classic. Time will tell if the same wireless issues that plagued third-party NES Classic controllers will be seen here. We can only hope that HORI has done its homework and gamers will be able to enjoy all of the cord-free gaming they can handle come Friday.

Officially Licensed by Nintendo. Enjoy your Super NES Classic with the modern convenience of a wireless controller! Packed with features, the Wireless Fighting Commander by HORI has a six-button layout that is perfect for fighting games. Enjoy a classic Slow-Mo function and Turbo can be independently set for each button.
