DirectNintendo has now officially announced the next Nintendo Direct. As part of an update that just landed on the official Nintendo Today! app, and likely to surface everywhere else momentarily, the Mario maker has confirmed another Nintendo Direct showcase for this week, and it’s all about the new Kirby Air Riders!
Next Nintendo Direct announced
Most folks assumed the next Nintendo Direct would land on September, like it usually does, but this year is not like the rest with Switch 2 now out in the wild and we are officially getting another dedicated showcase to give us our very first look at gameplay for the new Masahiro Sakurai Kirby racing game.
This one, as we detailed previously, is the only officially announced Switch 2 exclusive game we have not seen anything other than the debut trailer for, but all that changes tomorrow.
The dedicated Kirby Air Riders Direct is scheduled for August 19 (that’s tomorrow!) and it will run for a lengthy 45 minutes, according to Nintendo. The Kirby Air Riders Direct will go live tomorrow at the usual 6 a.m. PT/9 a.m. ET.
At 45 minutes in length, we can only assume this is going to be a detailed and complete look at the new Kirby racing title. Much like we saw with Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World before that, the entire length of the show will almost certainly be entirely dedicated to Air Riders and culminate in what better be the official release date.

The game is still slated to land this year and with the surprise Direct popping up today, it looks like Nintendo still intends to make good on that promise.
Unlike the somewhat underwhelming Mario Kart World Direct that essentially just showed us everything we already know, chances are the Kirby Air Riders show will be filled with new surprises, and perhaps even more so than the fantastic Bananza Direct – we, after all, have not seen anything from the game outside of the debut trailer thus far.
Updating…
Join us on Aug 19 at 6 a.m. PT for a Kirby Air Riders Direct with director Mr. Sakurai. The livestreamed presentation will last roughly 45 minutes and provide an in-depth look at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 game.
