Straight from Opening Night Live at gamescom 2026 in Germany, we now have our very first look at the upcoming Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past expansion. And CD Projekt RED just revealed The Witcher 3: Remastered – it releases on September 29 as a FREE upgrade for existing owners.

We are talking about game that was originally released over 11-years ago getting a brand new expansion here, and a proper one at that, and I’m all the way here for it. The Witcher 3 was and still is one of the best fantasy RPGs ever released and I just love the idea that CD Projekt Red is injecting the experience with all-new content in 2026.
There is a very much plan here though. The Witcher 4 has been announced and it is now targeting a 2028 launch window. The new Songs of the Past DLC is effectively a prequel to the devs upcoming sequel to the legendary RPG, aimed at both tiding gamers over until it is ready for prime time, but also to tie the two experiences together. It also comes right after CDPR will release the The Witcher 3: Remastered.

CDPR has also revealed the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered:
…if you own The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch, you will be able to claim Remastered on Nintendo Switch 2 when it releases.
Coming on September 29, this is the definitive way to experience Geralt of Rivia’s legendary adventure. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered features an array of improvements, bringing upgrades to visuals, gameplay, and more.
Remastered is a free upgrade for players who own The Witcher 3 on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and includes both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. It is also available for pre-purchase on Battle.net and Nintendo Switch 2.
