Nintendo launched its next-generation console with brand new Mario Kart experience, but Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remains one of the highest-selling Nintendo games of all-time and it just got a FREE Switch 2 update.
FREE Switch 2 update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
This morning Nintendo launched three new classics on Switch Online (check those out right here), but it also delivering a brand new and completely FREE update for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – the game is now officially ready for Switch 2 with a series of enhancements.
Nintendo says the update features “several enhancements to the game when playing” on Switch 2 including the ability to have eight players on one system:
With one Nintendo Switch 2 system, and enough controllers, you can now race in split-screen with up to eight people. It’s great for when you’ve got a big group together and want to play some Mario Kart.
You can also now connect a compatible USB camera to Nintendo Switch 2 system and enjoy CameraPlay in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
That means, when you’ve got everyone gathered around to play, you’ll be able to see their faces in the game on screen. Seeing the look on your friends’ faces as you pass them by can definitely add to the racing experience. You can also enjoy CameraPlay with your friends online via GameChat
And finally, as expected, alongside support for both the Nintendo Switch 2 display and and high-resolution TVs, “you can now play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with sharper visuals. Load times are also improved, so you can get to the action more quickly. We hope you’ll continue to enjoy playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Nintendo Switch 2.”
It’s not the Ocarina of Time Remake gameplay or release date you were hoping for, nor is it the September Nintendo Direct confirmation, but it is nice to see Nintendo continuing support for one of its biggest titles into the next-generation.
