Nintendo took to its official Twitter account late last night to announce Zelda II for Switch Online along with release dates for Yoshi’s Crafted World and Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn. After a slew of interesting retro game additions to Switch last year, the service will get even better come the end of this month just ahead of the new Yoshi and Kirby game debuts starting in early March. Head below for all the details.
Zelda II for Switch Online
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link will debut on Switch Online for subscribers on January 16th. The game was originally released on the NES and Famicom back in 1987 and takes place several years after the events of the original top down classic. The Adventure of Link moved away from the perspective fans of the game were used to at that point in favor of side scrolling sections. While a the introduction of Dark Link carried over to the rest of the series moving forward, the experience point system and limited lives remain unique in the long running series.
While it might not be as exciting as Zelda II for Switch Online, Nintendo is also adding the run and gun platformer Blaster Master. It originally released in 1988 for NES and was praised for smooth gameplay despite the steep difficulty curve. The lesser known title put players in a tank to battle against hordes of radioactive mutants and the war wages on later this month via Switch Online.
These two additions come on the heels of previous new entries to the retro catalogue including Ninja Gaiden, Wario’s Woods, Zelda, Metroid and more.
Yoshi’s Crafted World & Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn
The Big N also dropped a new story trailer for its upcoming Yoshi’s Crafted World titles for Nintendo Switch. We now know the game will be releasing on March 29th for Switch. Here are more details from Nintendo:
As Yoshi, you’ll leap up high, gulp down enemies, and set out on a treasure hunt to find all the different collectables. On the flip side, stages can be played backwards, providing new perspectives to explore and new ways to locate some of the more craftily hidden items! Available March 29, 2019 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn, an enhanced version of the Wii title, is coming to the 3DS on March 8th. It features all of the same levels from the original with a series of new gameplay mechanics and mini games.
In the meantime, head over to this morning’s roundup where you’ll find loads of amazing Switch games on sale.
