Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski and his new development studio Boss Key Productions recently debuted its very first project: LawBreakers. As many expected Cliffy B is dropping another shooter, but this time it’s in the first person and in a post-catastrophe setting.
LawBreakers is looking to set itself apart from typical futuristic, multiplayer shooters while still pulling inspiration from titles like Titanfall, Overwatch and Battleborn. There looks to be a strong focus on the connection between gameplay, the lore, and in turn, the somewhat unique looking classes. As you can see in the gameplay footage above, from the Assassin’s double jump to the Skirmisher’s jet-pack, and Cronos’ (tank class) rocket-jump, there looks to be a strong focus on traversal as well.
As for the specifics of the setting and story, humans have shattered the moon through failed experiments causing a number of geographical instabilities on earth. As a result, the planet has been rocked by earthquakes and left with a number of low-gravity areas that players can use to their advantage. While humanity has managed to re-build itself, the LawBreakers must be deployed to get a handle on the series of violent gangs that have cropped up in the aftermath. As of now, we know this is a free-to-play, multiplayer-driven FPS set for release in 2016. We still have no details on in-game purchases, early beta access or even which platforms it will appear on.

With the highly anticipated release of Super Mario Maker just around the corner now, more and more interesting bits of information about the game are popping up. Square Enix has now dropped the details on the Rise of the Tomb Raider Collector’s Edition for Xbox One. Set for release on November 10th, Rise of the Tomb Raider will take players though the remote regions of Siberia and beyond to uncover an ancient mystery surrounding immortality. It looks like we’ll be doing a lot more actual tomb raiding this time around, and now we have the full details of what to expect from the Collector’s Edition:
Along with the usual SteelBook cover and main game, you can expect a 12-inch tall statue of Lara in her climbing gear, a replica of Lara’s in-game journal, her jade necklace and what appears to be a pretty sweet-looking wood crate box to carry it all.

Nintendo has announced an official price drop coming to its already affordable 2DS handheld system. It currently holds a suggested retail price of $129.99, but come August 30th, the portable system will drop to $99.99 shipped. The 2DS, which plays almost the entire 3DS (and DS) library of games, will still ship with Mario Kart 7 when the new price drop hits at the end of the month.
We have seen the 2DS dip down to $100 and even lower a few times in the last year or so, plus a few sweet refurbished deals for even less. In fact, GameStop has it for under $100 in-store right now at some locations. However, with the official price drop we are likely to see prices come down even further from major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Target, GameStop and more, so it might be a smart idea to hold-off on purchasing until that happens.

While here in North America we may not take our inebriated bicycling as serious as they do overseas, we probably shouldn’t be driving anything drunk regardless. Japanese company Koowho is looking to help out with its new connected, breathalyzer-equipped bike lock: Alcho-Lock.
The small Alcho-Lock has a breathalyzer built-in, along with Bluetooth connectivity to your smartphone. You blow into the lock, and if you have had too much to drink the app will beam off a warning notification to a pre-designated friend or family member. At which point they can either ignore the message entirely or try to convince you not to ride drunk.
Ok, so no one should ride drunk, but as far we can tell the lock will still open no mater how hammered you are, relying entirely on the buddy system. In some places it is illegal to ride drunk, so this may seem significantly more practical in places like Japan or in the Netherlands where bicycles are very popular.
At $320 a pop, and not even strong enough to really lock your bike to anything confidently, it’s hard to see Alcho-Lock gaining traction in North America in its current state, Nonetheless, if it can help just one plastered guy from hurting himself in the middle of the night somewhere, then I guess it’s done its job.

After some pretty amazing looking level creations, the ability to create stages while seamlessly switching between 4 different titles, and some amiibo support, Super Mario Maker has certainly caught our attention. Set to release just around the corner now, reviewers have begun to dig in to early copies and have noticed some sweet little easter eggs hidden on the title screen.
Inspired by Mario Paint and Super Mario World, the opening screen has Mario traversing a typical course with the Super Mario Maker title overlay on top. If you touch the letters a number of playful, Nintendo-style animations play out including a sweet Wario reference on the M, a hidden cache of coins in the R, space ships, helmets, bouncy things and you can even hatch Mario a Yoshi.

iRobot is looking to take its popular robotic vacuum tech outdoors. The company recently got regulatory approval to create its new robotic lawn mower that uses wireless technology and a series of stakes to guide the autonomous yard tool.
iRobot’s beacon system uses wireless transmissions between the mower itself and the stakes or beacons to keep the mower on the right path. While there are already a number of hands-free mowers on the market like the Worx and Husqvarna options, iRobot says they all require underground fences or something along those lines for navigation.
Normally, the FCC prohibits the use of these kinds of outdoor fixtures using basic radio signals, but iRobot has managed to convince them otherwise, having now got the go ahead to move forward with the product.
While there is no word on when we will see something from iRobot for the lawn, most are expecting to wait a couple years. Many of the current competitors starting at about $850 and go way up from there, so it’s safe to say the iRobot option will likely be more than $1000.
