The new Donkey Kong Bananza just released to rave reviews, with game of the year already being thrown around, and terms like Switch 2’s killer app. And as fun as Mario Kart World has been – it’s going to need a ton of updates to reach the heights of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for me, we would have to agree. But it’s only going to be a matter of time before you make it to the center of the earth to get your wish granted in Bananza, so let’s take look at the best Switch 2 games releasing this summer and beyond. 

As you know by now, Nintendo has repackaged some of its biggest Switch games as Switch 2 Editions with some significant upgrades and expansion content for the new console. It also issued less significant performance and visual upgrades for 12 other titles you can download for FREE, but it also recently issued a somewhat stealthy update to some other classic first-party games for Switch 2 – Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. 

Donkey Kong Bananza launch day is here and so is the brand new Donkey Kong Edition Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless Pro Controller for Switch 2. Nintendo Switch 2 is available for purchase at Best Buy stores across the country today. After catching a quick restock at Walmart last night online, the next chance to score a console will be when the doors open at your local Best Buy. While you might want to go call ahead of time just in case, most of them open up at 10 a.m. and there’s no telling how many units will be available. 

While we were already pretty sure of it after getting a couple early play sessions, reviews are starting to flood in and it looks like the Switch has its first real banger masterpiece with the new Donkey Kong Bananza. DK’s latest adventure will release across the country tomorrow, but if you still didn’t get a chance to score a console to get in on the action, you’re in luck. Best Buy is scheduled to have Switch 2 consoles back in stock tomorrow for Bananza day and you might be able to score a console and the game in one fell swoop. 

Nintendo’s Today! app has delivered some notable reveals since it was first introduced earlier this year. One of which was the official confirmation of the upcoming live-action Zelda movie, right before it delayed the official release date to May 7, 2027. Fast-forward to today, and Nintendo has revealed who it is casting to play the titular character and the Hero of Light. 

After officially debuting the sweet PS1-style 30th anniversary PS5, PS5 Pro, DualSense controller, and the PlayStation Portal back in September, the classic edition PlayStation hardware has become incredibly difficult to get a hold of. In Sony’s attempt to keep the retro-era paint jobs as exclusive and limited as possible, it has mostly just left gamers who never got a chance to score it annoyed. Fortunately, folks here in the U.S. will get another chance starting next week (sort of). 

Just about everybody is still waiting on the next big first-party Switch 2 exclusive reveal. We have have the new Pokémon Legends: Z-A inbound this fall, and presumably the upcoming Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in and around that time, but many Switch 2 gamers, myself included, are still waiting for that big Mario announcement (Zelda is likely still a ways off by most approximations). And if it’s not going to be Mario, it ought to be a new Animal Crossing game for Switch 2 and that might be exactly what’s in the cards for the July Nintendo Direct that was leaked earlier this week. 

It’s going to be a relatively big week for Nintendo and Switch owners as Donkey Kong Bananza is set to hit store shelves on Thursday. It, perhaps outside of Mario Kart World, has been among the most highly-anticipated Switch 2 releases thus far, but the exclusive Switch 2 game lineup is still relatively thin and fans seem to be clamoring for more. But worry not – a reliable Nintendo leaker has recently divulged that the next Nintendo Direct showcase is likely to go live this month. 

The next big-time Switch 2 exclusive release is landing later this week, and if you’re yet to grab a console, we are are also getting  Best Buy console restock. Donkey Kong Bananza is set for release on July 17 – the same day Best Buy has officially confirmed it will have Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in stock once again. 

Update 9/4: All-new Ghost of Yōtei PS5, controllers, and console covers will be up via direct.playstation at 10 a.m. ET today – the virtual queue typically goes live before then. 

One of the most highly-anticipated PlayStation 5 releases of the year is going live tonight as Sony is set to host a State of Play dedicated to Ghost of Yōtei. We have seen a few looks at the game thus far, mostly a trailer form, but this afternoon Sony is promising a lengthy gameplay deep dive to give us a proper look at the new open world ninja/samurai experience ahead of launch this fall. Just when it looked like the Prime Day festivities were going to take over for the week, Walmart is set to launch a competitor sale of its own that will kick off tonight with a bang – reports suggest Switch 2 and the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle will be back in-stock! Alongside thousands of price drops across the entire official Walmart site, folks are getting an another chance to secure a Switch 2 console. 

Reports are surfacing all over the internet about what could very well be a detrimental flaw in the Nintendo Switch 2 design with regards to overheating issues. Yesterday we detailed some Joy-Con connection issues, likely due to faulty or lower-quality HDMI cable use, but the overheating issue might not have a work around at all. 

Publisher Bandai Namco is set to hit the virtual stage today with its 2025 summer game showcase. Reports have been surfacing in major way over the last 48 hours or so of issues regarding Joy-Con connectivity on Switch 2. Ahead of the Switch 2 launch in the wake of Trump’s ugly tariff situation, analysts sent shockwaves through the gaming world after suggesting the price of the next-gen Nintendo console might end up being even higher than Nintendo initially revealed. Nintendo held the fort and stayed strong on the $449 and $499 launch prices nonetheless, but it still remains to be seen if it will remain steadfast into 2026, especially considering Nintendo Canada just officially announced what sounds a lot like hardware price hikes. 

We had a solid run of Switch 2 console restocks this week at both Best Buy and Walmart, but there’s more on the way again. Early next month, Nintendo will officially expand the Switch 2 GameCube library for the first time with its fourth entry, Super Mario Strikers. 

While most of the massive summer game showcases are now well behind us, there’s still one more to come as Capcom is readying to take the virtual stage tonight. After the new Resident Evil Requiem stole the show (for most gamers) at Summer Game Fest, tonight’s Capcom Spotlight might be one of the more anticipated showings in recent years and we already know RE9 is on the docket.

Okay this it folks – the next major Switch 2 restock is going live today. As we have reported on previously, Walmart is scheduled to have what we have been told by inside sources is quite a substantial number of Switch 2 consoles up for grabs this evening, and we are here to do everything we can to make sure you get one. 

Half of the point of the Nintendo Switch 2 is to use it on the go, but you certainly want a case to do that. The dbrand Killswitch is, in many ways, the best Nintendo Switch 2 case I could ask for, but it does have one big flaw.

Sony is readying its 15th anniversary of PlayStation Plus celebration. There’s still time to go claim the June PlayStation Plus freebies that were announced as part of the Days of Play sale, but Sony has now taken to the official PlayStation Blog to announce the July titles alongside some extra bonuses. There will once again be three new titles members can download for FREE starting next week, but Sony is also revealing some PlayStation Plus 15th Anniversary goodies as well. Details below.

Nintendo Switch 2 will be back in-stock today at Best Buy. Much like it did a couple weeks ago, and right on the heels of Walmart’s re-stock announcement, Best Buy has quietly announced that Switch 2 consoles will be go live again online today.

While Switch 2 consoles have been all but entirely sold out online at major retailers since launch week, Walmart has now confirmed it will have more units up for sale starting next week. Both the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle and the Switch 2 console will be live on line starting June 25, but you’ll want to head below for the exact times and some additional details. 

It it’s time to take a look at the upcoming Switch 2 game release schedule. The Switch 2 is clearly off to a wonderful start in terms of sales and Mario Kart World has (mostly) been a big hit among gamers, but despite Switch 2 delivering a more or less solid launch lineup as far as new console launches go, there still feels like something is missing for me. That said, there are some wonderful upgraded Switch 1 games to enjoy and whole host of notable titles on the horizon, both this year and next. 

Mario Kart World and the rest of the Nintendo Switch 2 launch games are out in the wild now, but the next major release on Nintendo’s schedule is Donkey Kong Bananza. The all-new 3D DK game has a ton of Super Odyssey vibes, and we have already had a decent look at the game, but there is still more Nintendo wants to show us before its release on Switch 2 come July 17. And today’s dedicated Donkey Kong Bananza Nintendo Direct presentation starts soon.

Reports suggest SEGA is about to discontinue support for a host of its classic games ported to iOS and Android, but it has also made them all FREE and removed in-app purchase requirements as well. Nintendo has now officially announced a dedicated Donkey Kong Bananza Direct showcase scheduled for later this week. After the debut of Mario Kart World on launch day earlier this month, the next major Switch 2 exclusive scheduled to launch for the next-generation console is now over a month away and we will all be getting more details on Donkey Kong’s new 3D adventure in this week’s Direct showcase. 

Update: The mention below regarding the inner flap needing to be longer might actually be a bigger problem than it first appeared after the first week of testing. You should avoid this case as the inner zipper might damage the Switch 2 if you’re not super careful with it.

There’s loads of Switch 2 cases out there already, but the fabric-like finish and minimalist approach of the Spigen Klasden caught my eye. If you’re into the flashy, colorful models, you’ll want to look elsewhere, but if you like what you’re seeing from the Klasden in the images, head below for some hands-on impressions.

While most of the major summer gaming showcases are behind us now – Summer Game Fest, PlayStation State of Play, and the Xbox Game Showcase, Konami’s Press Start starts now (at 9 a.m. ET). Best Buy has now officially confirmed it will have limited Nintendo Switch 2 inventory online today. In a surprise move, and after skipping out on online orders for launch week, Best Buy has sent out an email specifically stating that it will have more Switch 2 console units in-stock today (June 11). 

In our continued efforts to ensure your Switch 2 experience is a smooth one, today we are touching on the “Battery Charge Indicator” issue Nintendo has identified. Over on the official support page for Switch 2, Nintendo is suggesting that some Switch 2 console units are experiencing some minor issues with regards to the “Battery Charge Indicator or Percentage Displays” – here’s how to fix it. 

While it might not be the new 3D Mario Switch 2 you are waiting for, today Nintendo is officially revealing the new Splatoon Raiders. Officially dubbed the first first-ever Splatoon spinoff game, Raiders is coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 alongside a FREE update for Splatoon 3 and you can check the debut trailer and all of the details below. 

With the latest State of Play and 2025 Summer Game Fest showcases behind us, it is now time for Xbox to take center stage. As we reported back in April, the major Xbox Game Showcase is scheduled to go live today to cap off the major summer gaming presentations, and all starts very soon. Tune in below. 

Capcom has officially unveiled Resident Evil 9, or Resident Evil Requiem as it is officially known. Rumors surfaced all over the net the last week about what appeared to be an imminent upcoming reveal, and it is now officially here. Scope out the announcement trailer below.

Summer Game Fest 2025 is set to take the stage today for lengthy live stream directly from YouTube Theater in California. The fifth annual gaming showcase has quickly become one of, if not, the biggest event of the gaming calendar (save for the Switch 2 bonanza this year of course), and it is once again set to debut hours worth of game reveals, world premieres, updates, and much more. 

I was lucky enough to get my hands on the new Switch 2 this week, and while the setup process was relatively easy, I had a bunch of unanswered questions. The questions centered mostly around game transfers, what Virtual games are, and what happens to my old Switch that I still want to keep and hand it down to a child. After doing some research, I got all my questions answered, and the solution is, well, not the best. Here is what you should know.

We are now onto day 2 of the Switch 2 launch. We saw another short blast of console availability early this morning at Target (we will keep a close eye throughout the day for more), but we wanted to once again highlight all of the new Switch 2 releases that are still in stock (at the time of writing) as well as touch down to inform folks about a couple new eShop sales that went live over the last 12 hours or so: the Devolver Digital event from $2.50 loaded with some brilliant indies and the Monster Hunter eShop sale from $10. But now it’s on to the Switch 2 games  now available for purchase that released yesterday.
