Just before pre-orders on the new PlayStation Portal player are scheduled to hit other retailers tomorrow, Sony has now announced the PlayStation Plus free games for October. While most PS gamers are (not so) patiently waiting for the release of Spider-Man 2, a fresh batch of freebies for PS Plus members will go live beforehand starting on Tuesday, October 3. The collection is headlined by some sci-fi survival horror action alongside peaceful farming simulation and a “dark fantasy reimagining of the Wild West.” Head below for more details on the October PlayStation Plus free games.
PlayStation Plus October FREE games
This month we saw Generation Zero, open-world fantasy MMORPG Black Desert, and Saints Row hit the Monthly Games collection. And with the new batch on its way, that means you’ll have until October 3, 2023 to claim them before they are gone for good. All of the monthly freebies will remain a permanent part of your library so long as your PlayStation Plus membership is active.
The October lineup includes the regularly $40 Weird West – a simulated sandbox version of the Wild West where “lawmen and gunslingers share the frontier with fantastical creatures” – alongside Farming Simulator 22 that regularly fetches $50.
But this month’s arguable headliner is The Callisto Protocol. The sci-fi survival-horror experience is a sort of spiritual successor to the classic Dead Space series you’ll find for $70 on PSN and closer to $20 in physical form on Amazon:
In this narrative-driven, third-person survival horror set 300 years in the future, take on the role of Jacob Lee – a victim of fate thrown into Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto. When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos.
All three titles will go FREE for PlayStation Plus members on Tuesday, October 3 and remain so until Monday November 6.
