New Target ad delivers look at upcoming deals in one of Nintendo’s ‘largest promotions ever’

Yesterday Nintendo announced its upcoming Customer Appreciation Sale, and today Target is giving us a sneak peek at some of the deals going live this weekend.

Nintendo’s announcement says the official upcoming sale is one of its “largest promotions ever,” but it’s probably not the one you were hoping for.

As we touched on in our initial coverage, the wording of the announcement seemed to suggest that, while the sale event might carry a ton of titles, they might also only be older Switch games rather than Switch 2 titles, and it now seems that is indeed the case.

Target has, as per usual, released its sneak peek ad for the sales and deals it is kicking off come Sunday, September 13, and there is one page that is clearly giving us a look at Nintendo’s so-called “largest promotions ever.”

Nintendo has already said the Customer Appreciation sale is going live on September 13 with “30% off dozens of Nintendo Switch digital games and bundles,” alongside savings on select physical titles, but there were no additional details on which games and gear that would be – the Target ad gives us a better idea:

While this is clearly just a sneak peek at the deals, it is probably a good indication that this giant sale Nintendo is running is largely just on older Switch 1 games…ugh. We can’t say for sure just yet, and I’m not sure why we even expected anything else at this point, but it certainly looks like it right now.

It is still, nonetheless, disappointing, especially because Nintendo specifically said the sale thank players “for their continued support and is made possible in part by tariff-related refunds. While Nintendo absorbed most tariff-related costs, the refunds helped make promotions like this one possible.”

Here’s to hoping we see at least some Switch 2 titles on sale this weekend as part of the sale at other retailers, but it’s not looking great right now.
