Canon has been a common household name when it comes to cameras for years. Its latest camera announcement, the PowerShot G1 X MK3, brings something new to the point-and-shoot table. With the announcement of the PowerShot G1 X MK3, Canon showed the world that they’re serious in the point-and-shoot space. By including the acclaimed Canon 24.2MP APS-C sensor from their DSLR lineup, they did yet another thing to set this camera apart. Canon claims that the sensor can shoot “breathtaking, nuanced images with wide dynamic range, amazing detail, and low noise, even at high ISOs.”

If there’s one iconic mouse that’s always been around it’s the Microsoft IntelliMouse. I’ve had numerous versions of this mouse, and they’re actually still in use today. I loved the IntelliMouse because it never failed and had amazing tracking for what it was. The original IntelliMouse was wired, much like the relaunched unit from Microsoft. It features laser tracking, a DPI range of up to 3200, and those iconic back and forward buttons.

Retro gaming seems to be making a comeback. We’ve seen several retro gaming systems launch again the past few months, with the SNES Classic, C64 Mini, and most recently the Super Nt [Classic]. Today, however, we’re writing about a different type of retro gaming machine: a mini Centipede arcade working replica. RepliCade, a product of New Wave Toys, is a recent product on Kickstarter that aims to bring you back all of the joy that the original Centipede brought.

Classic consoles are making a comeback it seems. Most recently, we had the SNES Classic launch and the C64 Mini announced, but now there is the Super Nt [Classic]. One thing that the relaunches of the SNES and C64 have is emulation. They are smaller consoles to the originals and have all of the games stored internally. This is both convenient, and sometimes a little frustrating. Chances are, there will always be a few games that you’d want to play on the latest retro console you picked up but can’t due to licensing issues. This exact issue is why the Super Nt [Classic] was created.

Virtual reality is an area that is ever growing. Two areas that virtual reality has been lagging in is resolution and field of view. If we take a look at the standard HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, you have 1080×1200 for each eye, giving a total of 2.6 million pixels. The field of view on Vive and Rift is also limited to 110-degrees, in comparison to the natural 220-degrees of a normal human eye.

URBAN626, a Pasadena-based startup that was primarily funded by local investors has recently launched their URB-E line of electronic scooters. The URB-E weighs in at around 30-35lbs, giving you the ability to drive up to 20 miles, and can reach speeds of up to 18 MPH. This new electronic scooter could help people in urban cities get around easier and cheaper than hailing an Uber or Lyft all the time.

Seagate is synonymous with computer storage, and today they announced their latest in server-driven solutions. Announcing their IronWolf, IronWolf Pro, and BarraCuda Pro 12TB drives, Seagate launched themselves to the front of the line when it comes to mass data storage. As a quick look into the drives, the BarraCuda Pro is designed to be the fastest and highest capacity consumer drive on the market. It’s built to be used for data-intensive processes like transferring large files or doing things like photo/video editing. The IronWolf and IronWolf Pro drives are more geared toward NAS/Server usage. All of the drives are a 3.5-inch form-factor and are built to be inserted into your standard NAS or computer.

Everyone is all about re-launching retro gaming consoles lately. In fact, today we had the launch of the SNES Classic, which we are giving away. On its coattails, we also have the reintroduction of the 1980’s classic Commodore 64 in the form of the C64 Mini. This re-launch of the original C64 is set to happen in 2018 at a price point of around $70.

There are many different styles of standing desks out there. Some are motorized, some are manual. Some have programmable buttons for certain heights, and some are even a few thousand dollars. But Autonomous is a brand we’ve come to know around here, and they make some awesome (and affordable) standing desks. TP-Link is a trusted name when it comes to Internet-connected devices, and they just announced their latest device. With the announcement of the KC120 Kasa Cam, TP-Link decided to enter the smart camera business. With 1920×1080 recording, night vision up to 25-feet, and a 130-degree wide-angle lens, this is set up to be a killer camera. Wonder Workshop isn’t a new name when it comes to getting children interested in technology. The CEO of Wonder Workshop is very interested in helping children learn more about technology and coding. He claims that in the next decade, there will be one million more technology jobs in the US then we have qualified graduates to fill. Some economists forecast say by 2050 over 40% of jobs will require some form of development, coding, robotic, or AI system management experience.

Wireless charging isn’t new at all, even though the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X just received the feature. But, one major limitation of wireless charging was always getting it to line up. I remember back when I had my Nexus 6, I always had a hard time getting it to line up just right on the charger, or else I would wake up to a dead phone. Sadly, this is a realization many iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X owners are about to become familiar with unless the technology behind Pi can save the day.
